Rescuers remind that the careless handling of fires, multiplied by weather conditions that are dangerous for ecosystems, in most cases can lead to catastrophic consequences. And the fact that the main cause of the occurrence of fires in open areas is the human factor - it can easily be confirmed by impressive statistical indicators. Only from the beginning of March already we have 7 219 incidents of fires in open territories and in natural ecosystems!

Specialists of the Rescue Service carry out comprehensive work on prevention of emergencies of various kinds every day, as well as check the readiness of the units for the intended actions.

In this summer, on June 19-22, the large-scale international exercises WEBER RESCUE DAYS will be held in the village of Horodyshche at the training area of the Main Department of the SES of Ukraine in Rivne oblast. Ukraine will host these exercises for the first time, and, aware of its responsibilities to international colleagues, the rescuers of the SESU are already getting ready to take part in the event.

On March 12 in the SES were held a meting of the Deputy Head of the Service Ruslan Biloshytskyi with representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The parties discussed issues of ICRC activities in the East of Ukraine and also tasks of work on 2019 year. Ruslan Biloshitsky congratulated foreign guests and noted that SES highly appreciates cooperation.

The representatives of local government bodies from 5 communities from Rivne oblast, namely: Milyatska, Nemovitska, Shpanovska, Pryvilnenska, and Smizka amalgamated communities are being trained the basics of civil protection management at the territorial level in the Republic of Poland. The managers learn the best practices of Polish colleagues in the field of civil protection, get acquainted with the structure of voluntary fire brigades, attend voluntary fire brigade depots.

On March 11, a meeting of the representatives of the SESU Office with the representatives of the Charitable Foundation of the Kingdom of the Netherlands “Suputnyk” and the Charitable Organization “Ukrainian League of Benefactors” took place at the 25th State Fire and Rescue unit of Kyiv City. During the meeting an official ceremony of the transfer of humanitarian aid from the Netherlands to fire and rescue units of Ukraine took place.

The delegation of the Slovak Republic, headed by the President of the Fire and Rescue Service of the Ministry of the Interior of the Slovak Republic, General Alexander Needly, is on a working visit in Zakarpattia Oblast.

During his visit to the Kingston University in the UK, the Vice-Rector for Educational and Methodological Work Mr. Dmytro Chaly took part in working meetings and meetings under the chairmanship of the first Vice-Rector Professor Martin Jones.

Every day efforts of the mountain rescue teams of the SES of Ukraine are directed at carrying out of the search and rescue of people, as well as providing them with emergency medical care at the objects and territories in mountainous and forest areas. Specialists of the Rescue Service have a lot of calls, because despite numerous warnings, both weather services and rescuers themselves, citizens continue to test natures`s strength and to risk their lives in the mountains.

On February 20, the Head of the Regional State Administration Oleh Honcharuk had a meeting with Marshal of Podkarpackie Voivodeship Wladyslaw Ortyl. The aim of the event was to discuss joint programs and implementation of mutually beneficial projects related to the preservation of the unicity of the Carpathian culture, the rescue of people on the water and in the mountains, the restoration of astronomical-meteorological observatory on the Mount Pip Ivan and the creation of an International Center for Student Youth Meeting of Ukraine and Poland.

The United Nations Refugee Agency continues to provide technical assistance - best international practices and technical equipment - to enhance the effectiveness of the Rescue Service response in the Donetsk region.
