Leadership of the Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frankivsk oblast took part in an information session within the framework of the U-LEAD with Europe Program

On January 21, within the framework of the U-LEAD with Europe Program, an information session was held on the topic: “Safety and environmental aspects in the organization of territorial communities of Prykarpattia” with the participation of structural units of the regional state administration, representatives of the regional office of the U-LEAD with Europe Program, representatives of the SES of Ukraine in the region, and the heads of the united territorial communities of Prykarpattia. This event was held online on the platform Ms Teams.

Head of the Department noted that 40% of all fires occur in rural areas, where people die, inflict significant damage to cultural heritage, and the time of arrival of the first unit sometimes exceeds the maximum allowable time limits and the first link to respond to emergencies in rural areas is local or voluntary fire guard. It is very difficult to overestimate the importance of the timely arrival of local fire and rescue units, because every minute can be crucial when it concern to people rescue or property save. Mr. Volodymyr also gave examples where fires and other emergencies were eliminated by means of local fire units.
In total, there are 32 local fire units in the region, the additional minimum need is 58 such units. The Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Ivano-Frakivsk oblast and structural subdivisions will continue to provide comprehensive assistance in the implementation of measures to establish local fire protection units on the territory of Prykarpattia. In addition, the Head of the Department of the SES of Ukraine in the region will visit all newly established united territorial communities to see and study all the problematic issues related to this area and provide recommendations for improving fire safety.

Representatives of the Department also proved the main aspects of fire safety in the community, namely: the procedure for the establishment and operation of local and voluntary fire units, the maintenance of external fire water supply systems, as well as legal and organizational principles of mine action, and answered the questions which the participants of the event put.
