The rescuers of Zakarpattia oblast are again adopting the experience of foreign colleagues and learning how to respond on emergencies, including eliminating the consequences of traffic accidents on the standards of the EU country - the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The representatives of Onderlinge Zorg Oekraïne Foundation visited Zakarpattia oblast with this two-day training mission. They conducted the practical training on the consequences of traffic accidents with the staff of two fire and rescue units.
The firefighters of the State Fire Rescue Post of the village Velyka Dobron, the 7th State Fire Rescue Unit of Chop Town and the 1st State Fire Rescue Squad of Uzhhorod City have been engaged to the exercises. The rescue specialists led by a trainer and firefighter from Kennemerland Fire Department (North Holland Province) Hans Den Hartog have trained the firefighters of Zakarpattia oblast to unblock the victims from a broken car. At the same time it should be done without additional injuries of the victim.
Mr. Hans also shared his experience of firefighting in his hometown and in the Netherlands, in particular. Thus, the distance between fire units have to be not more than 20 km, because the range of operation of firefighters is optimal for response and arrival time on call. Moreover, a colleague told about the development of voluntary units and noted that the majority of firefighters (about 20.000) in their country eliminate the emergencies and fires on a voluntary basis. However, there are professionals; their number is significantly reduced – about 6.000.
