SES urges citizens not to provoke fires in natural ecosystems!

Published: 27.03.2019, 12:30

Rescuers remind that the careless handling of fires, multiplied by weather conditions that are dangerous for ecosystems, in most cases can lead to catastrophic consequences. And the fact that the main cause of the occurrence of fires in open areas is the human factor - it can easily be confirmed by impressive statistical indicators. Only from the beginning of March already we have 7 219 incidents of fires in open territories and in natural ecosystems!

So, numerous fires these days were recorded in Zhytomyr, Kirovograd, Chernivtsi and Kherson Oblasts.

In particular, in Zhytomyr region, during the weekend, on March 23 and 24, fire brigades eliminated more than 30 gunfire and garbage fires. In one case, a 52-year-old woman was seriously injured, who tried to extinguish the branches burned on the roadside alone. It happened on the land of the reserve of the Kurnensk united territorial community in the Pulinsky district of the region. Зoisoned with smoke, she lost consciousness and fell into the fire. This was seen by the peasants who were nearby. They called an ambulance for the injured. With burns of the upper and lower extremities, she was hospitalized to the intensive care unit of the local hospital.

At the same time, in the Chudnivskyi district of Zhytomyr oblast, the combustion of weeds almost led to the destruction of a residential building. According to the owner of the apartment, he burned weeds in the garden. After the fire burned out, the man went to the house, but after leaving for a while in the yard, he saw a hint of fire. Experts also assume that the insertion of a source of ignition next to a wooden hammer occurred due to gusts of wind.

In the Chernivtsi Oblast, namely Sokyryansk, Kelmenetsky, Vyzhnytsky, Storozhinets'kyi, Zastavnivskyi, Novoselyts'kyi, Glybotsky districts and Chernivtsi, 39 fires took place on weekends, of which 31 were due to the burning of dry grass.

Also, firefighters already fix the first fires in the territory of the famous Gola Prystan forestry of the Kherson Oblast, where large-scale forest fires raged in the year before, and the aviation of the SES was involved in liquidation. So, this Sunday, on March 24, in the 5th quarter of Gola Ppystan forestry, a dry grass burned in two cells, which was eliminated on a total area of about 0, 7 hectares.

In addition, large-scale fire of shrubs on the outskirts of Rivne in the New Courtyard area this weekend also caused a lot of inconvenience for the inhabitants of the city and the surrounding settlements.

Therefore, in view of the danger of fire at rising the temperature, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine appeals to the public not to cause fires in open territories and to adhere to elementary safety rules while resting in nature.

Categorically prohibited:

• create garbage dumps and burn waste;

• breeding fire in the forest and forest plantations;

• smoke, throw in forest and forest planes unpaid matches and cigarette butts;

• leave a cloth impregnated with gasoline, kerosene, grease or other combustible substances in the forest;

• burn stubble and plant residues on agricultural fields;

• allow children to play matches and lighters.

Dear citizens! If you see a fire in the woods, landing areas and open areas, call immediately the number 101.

Remember that only compliance with the basic rules of fire safety will prevent the tragic consequences and material damage.
